    Only five things in creation that gun can’t kill

  • @rogerscott9332
    @rogerscott9332 День тому

    I inherited one of these recently, broke it down per your instructions and cleaned it up. The firing pin and bottom plate fought with me for about an hour popping apart each time I tried to get it back into the receiver. I also had the issue with the forearm ring wanting to cross thread. Finally put the forearm back on it and got it put back together that way. Not fun, would not recommend. Still going to shoot it though.

    • @jeffshootsstuff
      @jeffshootsstuff День тому

      Yep both of those issues are inherent to this design. The cross threading in particular. Glad you got it back together!

    You can extend the completed round exit chute by drilling a hole through a piece of sheet metal cut to the desired shape and use a bolt that fits into the unused threaded hole on the base of the Pro 1000 left rear, I did it and it works quite well.

      You can get them from places like Taylor’s. Factory “conversions” that chamber centerfire but have the octagonal barrel.

    4:36 I found it easier to install the two-piece slide stop in two steps: first install the slide stop part without the pin/axle. Then, pull the slide stop piece backward so it compresses the plunger, and allow pin holes to line up, now insert pin. As for the Federal (and other weak and cheap ammo), on my unit which is a full size, if I use the original 23 lb hammer spring/main spring, only the CCI Mini Mag will work. When I changed the main spring to the included 18 lb one, all ammo expect the Federal worked. So, knowing it was the under-powered nature that caused malfunction, I replaced the main spring with the lightest I could find, Wolff 15 pounder, now Federal works almost completely. "Almost" because the first round of a fully loaded mag, occasionally will have hiccup. The extra pressure from completely compressed mag spring will create extra friction under the slide and cause it to not fully cycle :)

    I had the same issue with my Kimber 1911 10mm target but with the factory grip safety. If I grip it really hard, there was no issue. But when I use a firm grip, it hangs up ever so slightly on the trigger and affects my trigger pull. By using the example on this video, I removed a slight amount of material on the grip safety with a coarse stone, and smoothed it out with a fine stone afterwards. The trigger pull is now as smooth as a glass surface. Thank you sir for this excellent video. Saved me a few bucks and a trip to the smith. Problem resolved.

    • @jeffshootsstuff
      @jeffshootsstuff 22 дні тому

      At this point they’d have to start with a new forging to get the barrel assembly diameter correct so I don’t see that happening. The demand just isn’t there. But they could easily cut it to the proper length.
